HIS TUNE IS HEARD ON THE DISTANT HILL

2019   Made in Thailand and Japan

Work format:  Video installation containing different artworks

Introduction:

This project is a collaboration between Wantanee Siripattananuntakul and Qenji Yoshida, they followed the footsteps of the Thai elephant named Hanako. She was used as a diplomatic gift which was like a symbol of human domination, and at the same time her life in Japan reminds us of issues of immigration critically tied to the narratives of refugees and racial fantasy. Their installation explores an abstract understanding of other beings.
